Shep (ID #A 125739) is a young, male Border Collie found running at large and brought to the Aurora Animal Shelter in hopes his owners would come looking for him. They didn't. This happy and intelligent pup is now available for adoption in kennel K13. Border Collies are among the smartest of canine breeds. They are also loyal and make excellent companions for families with older children. The shelter is located at 15750 E. 32nd Avenue, where you can meet Shep and complete the adoption process. Photos and info on other available shelter pets can be found online at www.auroragov.org/animal; where you can also purchase a pet license for your dog or cat. Call 303-326-8280 for additional information.
SHELTER TIP: 4th of July fireworks frighten most dogs and cats. Even though personal fireworks are illegal in Aurora, some people still light firecrackers and other noisemakers. Take a moment now to check the fit of your pet's collar to make certain it isn't too loose (two fingers should slide easily under the collar, but there shouldn't be excess space beyond that). Make certain your pet's collar and tags are securely fastened to help reunite it with your family if it escapes. Microchip identification implants are also recommended so your pet can be returned even if it slips out of its collar. Shelter staff recommends playing soft music while keeping your pet confined to an interior room with the door closed to calm it if there are holiday celebrators in your neighborhood.
