We don't hear too much about our Colorado High School Football players once they graduate and move on to college programs outside of the state.
This year
South Dakota School of Mines and Technology "Hardrockers", or as they're known in South Dakota,
South Dakota Tech, has a couple of Colorado players on the roster. SD Tech is usually known to recruit heavily from their home state, Wyoming and Nebraska, This year
Head Coach Dan Kratzer came down to Colorado and recruited two Colorado stand out athletes.
Erik Yeash, a 6'0, 185 lb.,LB/DB, from Louisville (Monarch H.S.) and
Tom Jeffrey a 6'4, 260 lb., OL/DL, from Aurora (Rangeview H.S.) They're part of the largest freshman recruiting class in SD Tech's history with 20 freshman players boosting the Hardrockers roster to over 70 current players.
"Erik is off a very good high school football team." said coach Dan Kratzer of Yeash. "We hope he can come in right away and compete for us." Yeash's Monarch team finished as a state runner up in the tough 2007 Colorado 4A division and Erik finished up a great year as an All-Conference selection.
Jeffrey was a 2 time Continental League All-Conference O-Lineman and played for a strong and heavily recruited Rangeview squad that was knocked off in the 1st round of the 2007 5A playoffs. "Tom is one of the top offensive lineman off the Rangeview High School team", said coach Kratzer. "He will be a guy that can come in an play right away."
Hopfully both players contribute early to make the Hardrockers successful and more players from Colorado looking up north to play football in "Hardrocker Country" in the future."
