Andy Niemann, head swim coach of MACS-Mission Aurora Colorado Swimming, was named Coach of the Year by his peers at the recent Colorado Swimming, Inc. (CSI) Swimposium. CSI is the governing body for Colorado swimming. Niemann also won this award in 2002.

He has coached Colorado Age Group State Champions, Western Zone Champions, Junior and Senior National finalists, a United States National Junior Team member, and Olympic Trial qualifiers. Niemann is certified as a level 4 coach by the American Swimming Coaches Association, which places him among the top 3 to 5% of swim coaches in the United States. He began coaching in Colorado in 1989 for an Arvada swim team, and has coached MACS swimmers since 1994. He graduated from the University of Missouri where he received his degree in secondary education and was a scholarship athlete. Niemann has been actively involved as a volunteer on the Colorado Swimming Board of Directors for the past 15 years. He also has been invited to work with swimmers at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
