Contributed by: Cherry Creek School District on 11/16/2007

Because of her natural leadership abilities, her motivation to take challenging herself and her dedication to people with special needs, Grandview High School student Torie Hadel was selected as the Rotary Club of Aurora's Student of the Quarter from Cherry Creek School District.

Hadel has volunteered for the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) for several summers. Through this experience, she has worked with disabled individuals who love participating in sports and outdoor activities. Hadel is an advocate for the disabled community. She said this volunteer experience is the most meaningful extracurricular activity she has participated in during high school.

"Torie is a wonderful role model and a stand-out in any crowd," said Grandview Counselor Molly Muggee.

Rick Stanzyk, from the Rotary Club of Aurora, said the club honors students who show exemplary efforts in community involvement, scholastics and leadership. Hadel received a plaque and $100 for Grandview.
