Grandview High School senior
Bo Bolen was honored by Denver Broncos Safety
John Lynch as a John Lynch Foundation Student-Athlete Star of the Month for January, during a celebration at Broncos Headquarters on Jan. 28.
The John Lynch Foundation honors one teacher, two middle school and two high school student-athletes each month. Students are selected on the basis of academic and athletic achievement and community service, while teachers are recognized for their support of student-athletes.
Bolen is best known as the State 5A Leading Rusher who helped the Grandview Wolves capture the State 5A Football Championship in 2007. He is the 2007 All-Colorado and Class 5A Offensive Player of the Year. He holds school records for both rushing and touchdowns and has received many athletic accolades.
But Bolen is a star off the field as well. He is ranked 48 th in his senior class of 665 students and has been on the Honor Roll for four years. He received two Academic Varsity Letters and was named to the Academic All State First Team two years in a row.
Community service is also important to Bolen and he volunteers at the Broncos Youth Camp, for Meals on Wheels, and is also a youth leader at his church.
As a Star of the Month Award recipient, Bolen and other honorees were treated to a tour of Broncos Headquarters before meeting with Lynch. The Super Bowl winner and nine-time Pro Bowler congratulated the students on their achievements and urged them to "bring someone else along" by being positive role models and sharing their academic and athletic gifts with others.
The John Lynch Foundation is committed to developing leaders by encouraging dreams, by providing programs that assist and motivate and by recognizing excellence and achievement.
