Victory, Vail and volunteer hours! Original Aurora Renewal recently honored West Middle School Associate Principal
Denise Cordova
as an "Aurora Everyday Hero" for her work in the community.
Cordova mentors at-risk students and helps turn their lives around through a Vail Resorts ski program called Project Victory. West Middle School partners with Vail Resorts and the COMPASS after-school program to teach students how to ski.
Cordova has been motivating and inspiring West Middle School youth since she first started working at the school as a physical education teacher in 1985. She has also worked as the school's dean of students and is now its associate principal.
"I'm humbled to be recognized by the community of Aurora," said Cordova. "I've enjoyed spending time with students and seeing the excitement on their faces when they learn new skills and grow."
