Arapahoe County 4-H Junior Leaders plan fundraiser for local youth Feb. 22
Youth, ages 5-18, are invited to attend the Arapahoe County 4-H Junior Leaders Council Fundraiser from 6to 8 p.m., Feb. 22 at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds, 25690 E. Quincy Ave., in Aurora. The party includes an ice cream social, music and dancing, and a variety of games for every age group.
Junior Leaders are 4-H members, ages 12-18, who are interested in pursuing leadership opportunities. They help plan and execute various County 4-H events and work on community service projects. Participation teaches youth valuable life skills that will help them through their college education or start in the work force. In addition to completing projects, 4-H creates a safe environment where youth can learn teamwork, communication and decision-making skills, as well as how to be a part of their community.
"The Junior Leaders plan everything about this party from staying in budget to the entertainment," said
Shaylen Florez, 4-H Program Coordinator. "The result is an event that caters to kids' interests. It's a ton of fun and a great learning experience at the same time."
Cost is $3 for 4-H members and $5 for non-members. Payments can be made by cash or check at the door or in advance. Parents can attend with their children or they can drop them off but must return promptly at 8 p.m. for pick up.
All proceeds will support the Arapahoe County 4-H Junior Leaders Council efforts for creating leadership opportunities within 4-H and the local community.
