Information Released on May 18, 2007 at 12:15 p.m.
Aurora Police are asking for the public's assistance with identifying a serial robbery suspect who is believed to be linked to as many as 12 armed robberies between February 2, 2007 and May 16, 2007.
The suspect appears to be targeting certain types of business including gas station convenience stores and sandwich shops.
Armed with a concealed handgun, the robber typically enters the business without bringing any attention to himself. The bandit then walks up to the cash register and displays, or simulates a handgun. He demands cash from the clerk before fleeing into the surrounding neighborhood on foot, or on a bicycle.
In at least one instance, the patient perpetrator stepped out of line to allow a customer - who entered the business after the suspect - to leave before approaching the clerk.
Investigators believe that the suspect has taken steps to avoid leaving evidence at the scene of the crime.
The suspect is described as an unshaven, white male, approximately 25-35 years old, height of 5'04" - 5'6", with a slender build and dark hair. During the commission of the robberies, the suspect usually wears large, dark sunglasses in an attempt to partially hide his identity.
Although no one has been hurt during the robberies, our goal - with the assistance of the public - is to quickly identify and arrest the suspect to avoid the potential for additional crime.
Detectives are releasing selected photos of the suspect from surveillance video in hopes that someone will recognize him. Additionally, a spreadsheet identifying the locations targeted by the robber has been provided along with this press release.
If anyone recognizes this suspect they are asked to call the Aurora Police Crime Tip Line at (303) 739 - 6118. You can remain anonymous and your information could make you eligible for a cash award up to $1,000.
