On Tuesday, Aug. 21, shortly after 8:30 p.m., investigators with the Aurora Police Department's narcotics unit as well as officers assigned to the SWAT team executed a search warrant in the 16900 block of East Whitaker Drive. Once inside, officers discovered a clandestine methamphetamine lab.
Prior to the execution of the search warrant, narcotics investigators obtained information that led them to believe that a meth lab was in operation at this location.
During the execution of the search warrant, chemicals and other items were found inside the town home that were consistent with those chemicals used for the production of methamphetamine.
Two children were also discovered inside the residence and taken into protective custody by police. The children, both of which are believed to be under the age of 6, appeared to be in reasonably good condition. As a precautionary measure, the children were taken to a local hospital for examination.
Two adults,
Daniel and
Lisa Pint, were placed under arrest in connection with this ongoing investigation.
Investigators with the North Metro Fire Departmentare assisting with the cleanup portion of this operation. Officers entering the residence were forced to use personal protective gear due to the presence of toxic chemicals.
Much of the threat to officers involves the chemicals and toxic fumes that are emitted as the chemicals interact with one another. Common by-products of some of those chemicals are phosphene gas vapors, sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid vapors, all of which are deadly poisons.
