Officers of the Aurora Police Department responded to the King's Inn at 11800 E. Colfax Ave.in the early evening hours of Jan. 23on report of a deceased person in Room No. 308.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a family member became concerned after being unable to contact the victim today. After discovering the victim had failed to show up at her job this afternoon, the family member contacted staff at the King's Inn requesting they check on her.

Upon finding the victim, later identified as ShirleyWelch, unresponsive, the staff notified the police.

Responding officers noted the victim to be an adult White female, who appeared to have suffered trauma to her upper body.

Major Crime / Homicide detectives responded and have initiated a homicide investigation.

The Aurora Police Department is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to the identity of the person(s) responsible for the homicide.
