Aurora Mental Health Center spring luncheon

CBS4 News' Ed Greene and Keynote speaker Debra Fine, author of her bestselling book The Fine Art of Small Talk" came together Friday, May 9, 2008 to raise awareness and funds to support the Aurora Mental Health Center's mission of providing quality care and programs that help people of all ages live full, productive, and happy lives. The event took place at the Radisson Hotel Denver Southeast.

The 2008 Spring Benefit Luncheon was successful in raising funds and awareness for Aurora Mental Health Center's programs and therapies. All proceeds go directly to support Aurora Mental Health Center's mission of providing quality care and programs that help people with mental health issues find hope, and the skills to living full, productive, and happy lives.

Ed Greene was the Master of ceremonies at the Spring Benefit luncheon event. He is a senior member of Denver's working media and has been a Denver TV Newscaster for over 32 years.

Executive Director Dr. Randy Stith thanked both the board of directors and the sponsors for supporting the luncheon. "Raising awareness for mental illness is critical to the health of our community," said Dr. Randy Stith, Executive Director of Aurora Mental Health Center. "Our annual benefit luncheon is one of the ways we share important issues with community leaders." Aurora Mental Health Center has been recognized both nationally and locally for excellence in mental health services. In addition to children and adult inpatient and outpatient services, the Center provides counseling for families, teens, couples, adults, and many other programs.

Keynote speaker Debra Fine gave her fast-paced, interactive and entertaining presentation The Fine Art of Small Talk. She covered insightful and informative conversation tips and techniques on how to strike up conversation and keep them going, avoid conversation "killers", exit conversations with grace, develop business relationships and come across as composed and self-assured when talking to people at meetings, presentations and seminars.

The Aurora Mental Health Center is a 501 (c) 3 corporation. Currently more than 400 regular employees, 50 interns and 80 volunteers provide services to more than 9,000 people annually. Services are provided at 16 specialty clinics, located in eight counseling and specialized service centers, six residential facilities, public schools, two county departments of human services, in home and foster homes, and at other community locations.
