Contributed by: Julie Patterson on 5/29/2007

Don't miss your chance to tour the art of southwest Native American cultures at the Aurora History Museum.

The museum's exhibit, "Native American Art of the Southwest," is scheduled to close June 17. Admission is free.

This display, featuring artifacts from the University of Denver Museum of Anthropology, the University of Colorado Museum and the Hensler collection, wanders through the villages of the Hopi, Apache, Pueblo, Ute, Tahono O'odham and Navajo cultures while exploring the creative legacy of their historic works. Rare artifacts from prehistoric peoples such as the ancient Puebloan and Mogollon also are on display.

The exhibit offers visitors a chance to investigate the forms and beauty of Southwest Native design through the representations of everyday and spiritual life in their art.

The Aurora History Museum at 15051 E. Alameda Parkway is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call 303-739-6666 or visit www.auroramuseum.org.
