The Geospatial Information and Technology Association (GITA) has honored the city of Aurora with a "2007 Innovator Award" providing the public with timely access to documents and records.
Specifically, Aurora was recognized for its innovative "Aurora Connect" Web application
( www.auroragov.org/auroraconnect), offering key information to residents, round-the-clock. This exciting technology combines maps, geographic data, and descriptive information to form a comprehensive geographic information system
For example, once a user enters a valid city address, Aurora Connect provides information on public records; interactive satellite maps; business licenses; zoning codes and political, neighborhood, school district, public safety and building permit information specific to that location. Aurora Connect updates each night with the latest information, providing the public with virtually real-time access to the most recent information the city has available.
This innovative technology provides real-time information via the city website, generating a higher level of efficiency and furthering community connections in today's digital world.
The city will accept the "2007 Innovator Award" at the annual GITA convention on March 4 in San Antonio.
