House fire injures one

Tuesday at 11:05 a.m. a fire broke out at 3481 S. Blackhawk Way. Upon arrival, fire crews were challenged with a middle-aged male victim trying to escape out of the 1st floor bathroom window. Fire crews were able to rescue him, provide necessary medical treatment and then transport him emergent to a local hospital. At this time his condition is stable.

The fire was quickly brought under control by the 20 plus firefighters on scene although a second alarm was called due to the potential spread of the fire. Fire Investigators on scene determined that the fire started in the kitchen with the cause under investigation and estimating the damages to be in excess of $100,000. The fire was confined to this one structure and no firefighter injuries were reported.
