Contributed by: Sherri-Jo Keener on 5/9/2008

Aurora's $10,000 Trout Tournament at Aurora Reservoir is sure to draw fishing enthusiasts from across the metro area. The Aurora Parks and Open Space Department has new rules for the 2008 contest to include a guaranteed $10,000 cash prize to the contestant who pulls out the heaviest Trout on Saturday, May 17.

Those interested in participating can pick up a registration form at local outdoor sporting good stores, including the Aurora locations of Gander Mountain, Valley Country Tackle and Sportsman's Warehouse. Log onto auroragov.org/parksandopenspace and click "Events and Programs" for more information or call 303-690-1286 for a registration form.

New boating inspections are in place at Aurora and Quincy Reservoirs to prevent the spread of Zebra Mussels, and Aquatic Invasive Species. To speed the inspection process along, and prevent delays on the morning of the event, have your boat inspected at Aurora Reservoir in advance of the tournament. Visit auroragov.org/parksandopenspace for more information and hours of boat inspections.

The Mission of the Aurora Parks and Open Space Department is to be stewards of outdoor places essential for people and nature to thrive in our community.
