The 27J school bond election offers us an opportunity to make a positive impact on our community. The election centers on the urgency fortwo elementary schools, two middle schools, security up-grades, HVAC maintenance and overcrowded classroom relief. The school district is growing by 1200 students each year, and doubles in student population everysix years.
I have listed several consequences of voting for and against this measure.
A YES vote understands that overcrowded classrooms have a negative impact on a student's ability to learn, and that is not acceptable.
A YES vote understands that a quality educational system serves all of the public, and has been recognized as a public good starting with the founders of our country.
A YES vote says that a previous generation provided schools for your education, and you owe that same duty to the children of this generation.
A YES vote provides the funds necessary to ensure our schools are safe places for our children to learn.
A Yes vote says that this community stands for the best educational opportunities for our children; and that our community is a great place for new businesses to relocate and bring high paying primary jobs. There is a direct correlation between a quality school system and your homes' value.
A NO vote says that the schools should move to a year round schedule, spilt sessions on all grade levels, more modulars beyond the core capacity of the school, and extremely long bus rides.
A NO vote says that 40 plus students in each classroom is acceptable.
A NO vote says that I do not care about whether or not the students are learning, graduating from high school or becoming productive citizens in our community.
As a parent of three children and a member of the Board of Education, I would ask you to vote for this bond election. We have an opportunity to continue to move forward in making our community a great place for our children to learn. I would also like you to talk with your neighbors, friends, co-workers, and fellow parishioner about the possible consequences of this bond election.
Together we will make our community a great place to learn and live.

This is a very important issue, not only will the children suffer if this bond is not passed but everyone will suffer. Taxes are high and will remain high if the bond is not passed, since nobody will want to live in an area with out schools. We will see more foreclosures since people will not be able to move out of the district, since they will not be able to sell their house. Retail development will stop since there will not be anymore "rooftops", the remaining will not be enough to justify retail. Taxes will remain out of control since there will not be anymore people moving into communities to help pay the tax bill and no retail to contribute either. Property values will plummet and the entire area will be destined for failure. Everybody stands to loose if the school bond is not passed!
