Blog Entry 4 of 60 Carless in Boulder
What it's like to voluntarily go carless as a way of life in Boulder, Colorado.

Where to hold a downtown Denver blogger meetup?
Contributed by: Amy Gahran   on 2/9/2007

One of the many things I do is host the monthly Front Range Blogger Meetup. (See our Meetup.com group.) This is simply a monthly gathering of bloggers from around the Front Range. No agenda, just a gathering so we can get to know each other and figure out how we can help each other.

So far all our meetings have been in Boulder. However, I've had several requests for a Denver meeting. So this month, on Feb. 27, we'll have our first meetup in downtown Denver.

...But I need help picking a venue for this meetup. I don't get to Denver that often, so I don't know the venues that well. I'd love it if some Denverites could suggest a place that meets these criteria:

1. Within a couple blocks of Union Station, Mkt. St. Station, or the Mall Ride (since I'm carless, and will be taking the bus from Boulder)

2. Inexpensive food & drink (coffeeshop would be OK)

3. Able to accommodate a group of, say, 10 people easily

4. Not too noisy

5. Open to all ages

...If you have suggestions, please e-mail me. I'd like the name & location of the venue, and URL if it's handy. I'd like to select a downtown venue by early next week.

And all YourHubbers, whether you blog or post stories, are definitely welcome to this event, and to join our meetup group to find out about future events.

Thanks!

- Amy Gahran

Common Grounds on 17th and Wazee is only a block from the mall shuttle. And they have good coffee.

Amy, there's also a Rock Bottom Brewery right on the 16th Street Mall as well. I forgot about that one.

Thanks Nikki! That sounds like a likely possibility, I'll call to check it out. - Amy Gahran

There is an Old Chicago at 14th and Market about a block from the free mall shuttle which one can catch from the 18th & California RTD rail stop. oldchicago.com for more details.

Charmaine, 15th & broadway's possible, but remember I'll be carless. How safe is the walk from that back to the mall ride around, say, 9:30 pm on a weeknight? - Amy

Eric, St. Mark's sounds nice, but it's too far east. See the geographic range I specified. I need to make this very simple for a carless commute. - Amy Gahran

To comfortably seat enough people and to also have some killer java/atmosphere, you can't beat St. Marks uptown. www.stmarkscoffeehouse.com

I know of a Starbucks on 15th and Broadway that could be an option ...
