Why is Basalt such a great getaway for a Healing Retreat?

While Basalt is abuzz with healthy, active folks, its slow-paced, laid-back atmosphere will make you feel like you have taken a long vacaction. Historic Basalt offers charming cafesand boutiques, all surrounded by the splendor of red-rock mountains, rivers, and wildlife.

Centrally located in the Rocky Mountains, but just a 3 hours drivefrom the Front Range, Basalt isideal for a weekend getaway for most Coloradans.

Higher Spa & Studio is a day spa and fitness studio that offers Healing Retreats. Their staff, body treatments, and programs complement the town vibe.
Design your retreat for your body's healingneeds. For example, choose...
*their signature"Endorphin High" spa treatment for weary muscles and stiff joints, including a sports massage with soothing balms and oils, Ayurvedic brushing,and amild salt scrub;
* a "Better Bodies after Babies" fitness program to get rid of stubborn post-baby fat, using strength-training, stretching,and yoga;
...and more! Check out their website, http://www.HigherSpa.com for more info.

For accommodations, you'll find the old-fashioned Green Drake motel or the Aspenalt Lodge: both are in historic downtown.
The Lodge at River's Edge captures the river connection, steps from downtown. In the summer and fall, you'll want to lounge at the river's edge. Slip into a blissful, relaxed state of mind.

Year-round, Basalt is known for its Gold Medal fly-fishing. In the spring, summer and fall, Cycling and Hikingare huge here. In the winter, Cross-Country skiing and Snowshoe hiking are abundant, and of course, the resort ski areas are just minutes away.

Basalt is centrally-located in the Aspen valley, so there is plenty to do if you plan a longer stay or need a dose of "city life". Nearby activities, all bus- or car-accessible in less than 30 minutes include:
> You can visit the hot springs inGlenwood,
> Hit the ski slopes or cross-country skitrails,
> Hike or Snowshoe aroundRuedi's spectacular red-rock trails
> Cruise into Aspen for theater and fine dining.
