OK, earlier I
madefun of the beckoning, battered chef outside of the Eggcredible Cafe -- the restaurant at the Days Inn at Manhattan and S. Boulder Road. I figured if I was going to rag on their outdoor decor, it was only fair that I stop inside and sample the menu.
I hesitated to do this, since my experience with small hotel restaurants generally has been awful. The food is usually tasteless, lukewarm, and nondescript.
But in this case, I was pleasantly surprised.
Although it offers no clue of this from the outside, Eggcredible Cafe is actually a Polish restaurant. Well, at least it has a definitely Polish flair in its menu, and even touches of Poland in its decor.
The best part:
real pierogis! Especially spicy sauerkraut & mushroom. Yum!!!
I come from the suburbs of Philadelphia, where there is a substantial ethnic Polish community, so pierogis were a pleasure of my past. Out here in Colorado, they're a rare find. And now I see that for the last year or two, there's been a good supply of pierogis less than a half mile from my house
I mentioned this to some of my neighbors -- some of whom knew, others who didn't.
I don't understand why Eggcredible doesn't market the Polish pierogi angle more directly. Had I known the cafe wasn't quite as generic and mundane as it appeared, I would've been scarfing down pierogis there long ago.
