Bruner's Music Blog
Basically, I'm awful at keeping my blogs updated, so let me just say this: I'll be doing my best to post my rants, crazy ideas, and wildly genius revelations (thanks, whiskey) that pop up in the whirlwind that is my life. Most of these ideas revolve around music, as that's what I do. I've played in bands for over 10 years, toured the US and beyond, and now work for an independent music company around town. Disclaimer for those of you not accustomed to my sense of humor: You don't have to take what I'm literally saying so seriously. I'm here to have fun. Just look at the points I'm trying to make, then you can punch me in the earhole and make cracks on my mom.

Hype Club

It's always tough for me to think about writing a blog. I figure I should just jump in and see what happens. So I'll tell you a little bit about Hype Club:

I work in the music industry, and I've played music for years, and I'm a total dork. So I found myself at a point in my life where I had gotten everything I wanted, at least musically: I was playing with a great band, whose company I thoroughly enjoyed; I was working in music and actually building a nice network; and I was beginning to actually capitalize off of music. I wasn't taking advantage of anyone, I was just finally getting paid to work in music. Awesome.

But then I found myself getting so wrapped up in the bands that I was working with that I began to lose track of all the amazing new music that's coming out now. I talked to several folks about it, and one friend had the idea for what was basically a mixtape club. Genius (thanks, Jess). Then we could actually network with more folks in the music industry as well as keeping tabs on what the new, fresh band is out of, say, Arizona. Now, we also wanted to give it some element of exclusivity, because we're nerds and we're cool now, and we'll show you how cool we are. Think: the skull and crossbones of the music industry. The secret organization that already knows about the next upcoming act before they even know it. Cool, huh? Of course, we also want to spread the love and get people excited about new music and into the habit of seeking it out. So, for a while we'll keep it as a tight-knit group, tighten up our skills, and work on some more fan-oriented interaction in order to unleash its glory on the world

So we did it. We built a fancy myspace page, set up an email account, and started adding select friends. I've already discovered a ton of great bands and met some cool people. I guess it's working. Stay tuned for more Hype and I promise we'll be ready for the public soon. Then, we can drop it on the world and the robots will be happy. Which is ultimately all that matters.

I think we have a clause in the Hype Club Charter that actually says we get to beat you up if you submit the Backstreet Boys in any form. Damn! There goes my selection for this week...
