Audience Development - Appreciating Audiences II

Last time I mentioned some great ways to show your appreciation for your audience. There is one more easy way to show your audience how much you appreciate them, and it is a great audience development technique!

If you were able to collect emails during the ticket purchase process, send all of the people that went to your event a thank you email with a little special bonus attached. Give them a $5 coupon good for their next ticket purchase or maybe $5 off a purchase at your merchandise store! Or, if you really want to thank them, give them a voucher for a free ticket (to a show that may need some support audience wise) with details on how to purchase extra tickets.

You can also attach a 1-5 question survey in order to get their feedback about the performance. I suggest asking the following questions:

1. Where did you hear about the performance?
2. On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate the performance?
3. Tell us about your experience. What did you like about the performance?
4. What are your suggestions for improving your overall experience?
5. On a scale of 1-10, how likely are you to recommend attending one of our performances to a friend?

This can be a quick 5 minute survey, and it will generate information you need to know for better audience development and arts marketing purposes.

So, get in touch with your audience after the event and tell them how important their feedback and opinions are to your organization. Prove to them that you are thankful that they chose to spend their valuable time at one of your events.
