Blog Entry 26 of 32 The Buff Stops Here: CU and Boulder news for students and residents
You're going to be fine. Take a deep breath and realize that being a college student only happens for a four (or five, or maybe even six) year period in your life. Take the time to enjoy it. Do you need to know what's going on around you in Boulder? Want to connect to other CU students around? This blog is going to help you get the most out of CU and Boulder as you can, with interviews, the latest news about CU and Boulder that effects you and links to resources for CU students.

Churchill is back in the saddle again
Contributed by: Kevin Villegas/YourHub.com   on 10/3/2007

Ward Churchill, the CU professor who was recently dismissed from the university, is coming to a classroom near you, but don't expect to receive any credit for it.

The Campus Press is reporting today that students have invited the embattled professor to come back and teach a class called "ReVisioning American History: Colonization, Genocide and the Formation of the U.S. Settler State" on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. You can read the whole story about it by clicking here.

According to the article, there will be no tests because it is not being taught for credit. Churchill also apparently told the reporter that he will teach the class in his own style, which "doesn't always include the truth."

Also going on is the news that some business owners want to ban smoking outside on the Pearl Street Mall.

Various news outlets reported on this story earlier this week, but it was lost amidst all the chaos surrounding the Rockies winning the NL Wild Card. You can read more about the Daily Camera's story, however, by clicking here.

According to the story, some of the business owners are asking the city of Boulder to ban smoking within 50 feet of entrances. That would effectively ban smoking on the entire mall.

And although some people think that would be a good idea, because it would attract more people to the district and keep the patrons healthier, smokers are up in arms over the proposed rules.

What do you think about the proposed law change? Are you a smoker who feels like you are having your rights infringed on? Perhaps you are sick of having to wade your way through smoke just to shop in the area. Whatever your opinion is on the topic, we want to read about it. You can post your own story about it or why not start a blog? It's free to register and after that, you can use the site to its full potential.
