Last night, Boulder chose seven city council members and said yes to two of
the four questions on the ballot.
Crystal Gray
and
Ken Wilson
were reelected with 10 percent and 10.4 percent
of the vote, respectively. Joining them will be
Matt Appelbaum
,
Macon Cowles
,
Angelique Espinoza
,
Lisa Morzel
and
Susan Osborne
.
City voters defeated Ballot Question 2A, about permitting the city to lease
land for 40 years instead of 20, by a 3-2 margin. Ballot Question 2B, about
compensation for city council members, was defeated by only 25 votes out of the 48,000 cast.
Ballot Question 2C, about clarifying the language regarding a vacancy on the
city council, passed with about 61 percent of the vote. Ballot Question 2C,
which asked voters to clarify on how to fill those vacancies, received nearly
90 percent of the vote.
In Boulder County, voters said yes to both measures. Issue 1A, about an extension of bonds for open space, was passed with 59 percent of the vote.
Issue 1B, an extension of sales and use tax for transportation, passed with 69 percent of the vote.
The city council will select a new Mayor and deputy mayor soon after the
election. Crystal Gray is said to be interested, but two of the people who were recently elected have had experience on the council before and are said to be also interested.
