Last year around the holidays, a group of us decided it'd be a swell idea to strut ugly, tacky Christmas sweaters out on the town in Denver. Whether it was from mom's closet or the local thrift store, all of us scrounged up some hot, entirely-too-festive items.
We started the night at the Rio (because everyone knows that any night that starts there is bound to be a good one) and made our sloppy bar crawl down the streets of Lodo.
From dancing with random Santas to sweating our faces off while gettin' down in our bulky sweaters and getting strange looks from swanky onlookers, we decided to make this fantastically awkward invasion a tradition.
Dec. 21 marked the second annual Jingle Bell Rock That Sweater event. We kicked it off at the Rio - then made our way to Public House - then moseyed over to Sports Column and ended at the Downtown Tavern. It was a great mix of Christmas cheer and debauchery.
I'm already looking forward to next year. Hey - when you're like me, and you don't want to grow up just yet, try participating in little activities such as these. It keeps the Christmas anticipation alive. And it reminds you of how fun the no shame factor can really be.
