Blog Entry 1 of 4 Costa Rica to Boulder, with a side trip to Guilt
You can share my successes (few), failures (more) and misadventures (a bunch) with me as I navigate the complicated straits between a 92-year-old Mom in Florida who's working the Guilt Matrix full-bore, an ill long-term friend in Golden who's suffering mate-mismatch, and my own needs, that seem ephemeral most of the time, but female companiionship and spiritual peace seem to be involved and no, I don't want to hear about oxymoronism. I have my maniacal side but have never been convicted in a meaningful court. The good news is that I'm basically a Southern Gentleman upgraded to the present age (women CAN vote and own property), with a thin veneer of Boulder S.N.A.G (Sensitive New-Aged Guy), coupled with a cynical and wry sense of humor, a voracious reading appetite, and the determination to not suffer fools gladly. F---; at all. 'Nuff said.

Can Friends Share A Bed?
Contributed by: Scott Mock   on 7/19/2006

Can it be done?

You know it. As long as: one of you is gay; you don't like each other; neither party reads MAXIM; you're both really tired--no, scratch that; one of you is having a period--no, scratch that; you've just discovered that one of you is a Republican (a surefire sexual de-stimulant); one of you has flippers; one of you is incontinent; one of you is a lesbian and the other one isn't....well...let's give that some thought; but you get the idea.

There are many situations that are definitely NOT conducive to mutual sex. Those situations have been known to disappear in a NY second (a VERY short period of time).

Getting us to my objective: I travel a great deal between Colorado, Florida, and Costa Rica.

I often find myself wishing that I had a great traveling companion to share this moving experience (sorry).

So...I'm in Golden at the moment, helping my friend move her things from Boulder, then on to Florida to drive my 92-year-old-mom up to S Georgia to see my 1st Grandchild (her 1st Great-Grandchild), then I'll have had more than enough of the good 'ol USA and I'll be off to Costa Rica for some visiting and traveling. I'm looking for a companion to join me there, and we can share my 1994 Isuzu pickup, stops at several friends' houses from Alajuela to San Isidro, and side adventures into whatever places seem interesting.

I speak FAIRLY good Spanish, so don't worry about that. We'll share expenses for food, lodging, and gasoline, and come to a mutual agreement about our next adventure.

You can use the bathroom (if there is one) first, and we'll be understanding about other, ah, intimate occasions.

I know Costa Rica fairly well, and it's a safe place with a bland cuisine, it's also beautiful and has some lovely beaches and is ripe with exotic fruits. (Some of them, as well). Give me a shout and perhaps we can plot some innocent mischief.

I promise not to give you financial advice, offer you drugs you're not used to, or leer at you unless it's entirely appropriate.

My mother is my reference, and I have a couple of guy friends who'll assure you that I've never been convicted of anything that might worry you.

Carpe Diem- y porque no?

TRUE friends can share a bed and much more. The sad part is very few people understand the meaning of being a TRUE friend. Sometimes people do so much for another thinking they are a friend, and then they get crapped on.

This would be a great idea for single seniors. I know a lot of single women, who have the time and means to travel, but don't want to go alone. Luckily I still have my husband and he's a wonderful traveling companion. If only we lived in a world where we could trust the word of others. A 92 year old mom, would surely be a little biased as to your character. Need to do a background check, lol!

This is awesome. Be sure to write a blog entry/profile of your new travel companion when you get one so we can give him/her the thumbs up or thumbs down.

What a great idea! I have traveled the world alone and often longed for someone to share a dinner here or there to recount the joy I had that day. Perhaps I will take your lead and post my own request for a travel buddy. Although, I'm a big leerer :P
