I hate brussels sprouts

Pray for an early spring
Contributed by: John Greenley   on 2/28/2007

Today was yet another snow-filled day in Boulder and I did not see one snowplow.

The city has made its lack of snow removal funding public, but this is not an excuse to stop plowing altogether. There has to be low-priority items within the city's budget that can be cut or restructured to allow safe passage through Boulder for the rest of winter.

Louisville just took this step to set aside more funding for snow removal, which was featured today in"The Daily Camera."

I'm sure the city council could find a way to budget less flagstone and bus stop beautification projects to make sure rear-wheel drive cars can move with traffic, without spinning-out all over Broadway.

At 10:30 a.m. spinning cars littered Broadway by campus, not able to get through the six inches of slush. I know this particular storm hit harder than expected, but I still saw no effort to provide drivers with safe passage through town.

Boulder is of course a much bigger community than Louisville and budget changes may take a little bit longer. All I ask is that Boulder's elected officials have the same sort of forward thinking.

If not, let's all pray for an early spring.
