Older Boulder Artists- Paintings by Women Over 85

What:	NEXT › ‹ PREVIOUS "Older Boulder Artists", an exhibit of watercolors by residents of the Meridian Retirement Community, is featured at the Boulder Arts and Crafts Gallery, 1421 Pearl Street from June 18 to July 29. The six artists, age 88 to 99, have attended classes at the Meridian for five years, and taught by Boulder artist, Anne Gifford. Some had never painted; others were more experienced artists. Together, they blossomed, each one's style developing as they explored new ideas and techniques. The "Older Boulder" represents the finest works of these vibrant women. One of the artists, Ruth Wagner, says, "We always wanted to paint but never had time. Anne taught us how to laugh at our crazy mistakes." The other artists are Marty Smith, Dorothy Scott, Jane Shoemaker, Ruth Thomas and Mildred Walton. Their teacher reveals, "I have learned so much more about living from them than they could ever learn about painting from me." The opening reception will be held on Sunday, July 13 from 3 to 5 pm at the BAC Gallery, an opportunity to meet the artists.
