Caden Gowan, a Boulder 16-year-old, came up with a unique way to make a contribution to the Obama campaign.
With some help from family and friends, he is making chains of origami "
Cranes for Change," which are being sold to raise money for the
Obama campaign. So far,
Caden, his sister, and friends, have folded hundreds of cranes. They are being sold at the Boulder County Democratic headquarters, Troubador Books in Boulder, and Mudslingers Pottery in Louisville. They are also being sold at various Obama fundraising events.
All of the money is being donated to the campaign. In one day, Caden earned over $500 for the Obama campaign by selling his cranes.
Caden is not yet old enough to vote, but felt strongly that he wanted to make a difference in this political season. He has been fascinated with origami for years, and this was a way to do something that he loves, and help a cause that he believes in. His idea is starting to spread. His cousins, who live in upstate New York, are starting to make
Cranes for Change to sell in their area. Caden hopes that people in other parts of the country will be inspired to do this in their own communities.
