Impact on Education and the Boulder Chamber Present Annual"Education Matters 2008 Business Leadership Forum"

High-quality public education is vital to creating and sustaining a thriving business community. To help local companies understand the critical link between public education and business, Impact on Education and the Boulder Chamber present the fourth annual "Education Matters Business Leadership Forum." Hosted by Vectra Bank, the breakfast event will be held from 7:00 am to 9:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2008 at The Millennium Harvest House in Boulder. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at boulderchamber.com.

Amgen, Ball Corporation, Boulder County Business Report, Caplan and Earnest, LLC, Irfan Mushi Foundation, Google, Roche Colorado, Seagate Technology and Wyatt Construction Company Inc are sponsors.

The forum will provide a fast-paced overview of the undeniable link between business and education, some inspiring case presentations of local business/school partnerships and a keynote presentation by Andrew Romanoff, the second youngest Speaker of the House of Representatives in Colorado History. Over his eight years in the House of Representatives, Romanoff authored numerous measures to help improve education and is widely credited as the author of Referendum C, a major fiscal initiative approved by Colorado voters in 2005. In his final legislative session (he is term-limited), Romanoff successfully led an effort to put SAFE (Savings Account for Education) on the November ballot as Amendment 59. Romanoff is an engaging speaker who will share his perspectives on the inner workings of the legislature and how public policy is shaping the future of education in Colorado.

"Based upon prior experience with "Education Matters", we are confident that business leaders will leave convinced that supporting public education is a great way to improve tomorrow's economic climate today," says Susan Morris Graf, CEO, Boulder Chamber of Commerce. "We hope they will translate this knowledge into tangible support to help improve public education in Boulder Valley," said Francie Anhut, CEO, Impact on Education.

Impact on Education is an independent, non-profit organization that exists to increase support for public education in Boulder Valley Public Schools (BVSD). Since 1983, the organization has raised over $10 million to make measurable contributions to programs that create opportunities for "at-risk" students, increase student interest and learning in science, technology and math, and motivate and reward teacher excellence.
