Invitation to an afternoon with Judy Collins

Judy Collins is one of the leading lights of the folk music movement, a performer who has thrilled audiences worldwide with her unique blend of interpretative folksongs and contemporary themes in an impressive career that has spanned more than 40 years. She is known for the stunning purity of her soprano voice, for her eclectic tastes in the material she records, and for her social activism. The new CD release, Born To The Breed, pays homage to Collins' iconic career and song catalog with her own songs covered and interpreted by other artists.

Born To The Breed, released by Collins' own independent record label, came about from a casual compliment Collins received from another iconic female singer. "It started because Chrissie Hynde said to me, 'You know, one of my top 10 favorite songs is 'My Father.' And I thought, 'Why don't I get her to record that?'" says Collins. Other singers contributing to the project include Joan Baez, Rufus Wainwright, Dolly Parton, Dar Williams, Jimmy Webb, Shawn Colvin, Leonard Cohen, Arlo Guthrie, Amy Speace, The Webb Sisters and Puressence's James Mudriczki.
