What's better than an impromptu Dance Party in the Living Room? Not much when preschoolers are involved! I decided to listen to a CD when we had some friends over for a playdate, and this is just what happened! And, I dare say it's practically impossible to
not dance around when listening to this music! And, what music is this? It's the new CD by
Recess Monkey, named
Field Trip.
Claire and I had the chance to preview this CD, and it's set to release to the public on June 9th!
(This is not a paid review, however,
The Casual Perfectionist was offered a free copy of the CD in return for an honest review of it.)
To be honest, we had never heard of this group, but after the first listen, we were hooked! We have since listened to it quite a bit, and it's made its way into the top of our musical rotation. The music is upbeat and funny and great to dance to! What more could you ask for?
I hesitate to compare bands to one another, but there is something about
Recess Monkey that reminds me of
They Might Be Giants...and that's a good thing! They are quirky and the songs are catchy. When Claire begs to listen to
Recess Monkey "one more time!" I don't even hesitate.
Claire loves every single song on this CD. When asked what is her favorite one, she just starts describing them all. It's too hard to narrow down, and I don't blame her! The only one she doesn't really appreciate is the "skit" at the end, but she's only 3-and-a-half years old, so that's understandable.
In learning more about their group, I found out that this is their fifth studio CD, and I just might have to go get some of their other ones. If they are anything like this one, we won't be disappointed!
