Mission Wolf a great place to visit!

My family recently did a two week Colorado Road Trip. Our first stop was an overnight stay at Mission Wolf, which is a remote wolf sanctuary located about 35 miles NorthWest of Walsenburg - read more at their web site.

Despite being at about 9,000 feet 15 miles up a dirt road, Founder/Director Kent Weber and his staff have created a peaceful place for the wolves. Most people camp out in the meadow, but Kent was gracious enough to allow us to stay in a tepee - our kids thought this was nifty. Don't come here expecting 5-star accommodations ... although being off the grid, they have electrical power (due to Solar/generators), flush toilets (using well water), and amazingly enough, even wireless Internet (via satellite).

The highlight, of course, is the several dozen wolves. Being able to see these beautiful creatures up close (and even touch them) was pretty darn cool - the pictures below tell the story better than I can with words and you can read/see more on my web page about Mission Wolf, Colorado at www.komar.org.

P.S. Recall that the People's Republic of Boulder has a pretty serious prairie dog problem. I didn't see any of those pesky critters near the wolves - perhaps we can have them visit us! ;-)
