A panel of state library leaders will gather together to discuss the present state and future of libraries from 10 to 11:30 a.m. May 12 at the Aurora Municipal Center, City Council Chamber, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway.
Coffee and conversation will follow the panel discussion. The public is invited to attend, and asked to bring a book to donate to a school or community library.
Hosted by State Board of Education member Karen Middleton, representative for the 7th congressional district, "Our Libraries: A Community Conversation" will feature state library leaders talking about strategies for sharing resources between schools and communities; how libraries strengthen our community and civic life; the importance of qualified library staff; how libraries are changing to meet technology and curricular needs; and how libraries contribute to literacy, reading, research and life-long learning.

•Martin Garnar, president-elect, Colorado Association of Libraries, and associate professor of library science, Regis University
•Susan Gilbert, teacher librarian, Hodgkins Middle School, Adams County School District 50
•Eugene Hainer, director of the Colorado State Library
•Jody Howard, adjunct faculty, University of Denver Library & Information Science, College of Education
•Eloise May, director of the Arapahoe Library District
"Our Libraries: A Community Conversation" is presented by the Colorado State Library and the Aurora Public Library.
