Impact on Education, an organization dedicated to increasing student learning and support for public education in the Boulder Valley School District, announced that they received a check for $180,000 from the estate of former teacher
Allaire D. "Stu" Stuart who died November 15, 2006. The gift came as a surprise to the organization.
Ms. Stuart left one third of her estate, which consisted primarily of her home, to Impact on Education. Estate trustee
John Layman described Ms. Stuart as a consummate educator who was committed to ensuring that disadvantaged kids build successful lives through education. While she demonstrated this belief every day in the classrooms at University Hill and Columbine Elementary schools for 26 years, she was also eager to create a legacy in education through Impact on Education (formerly, the Foundation for Boulder Valley Schools). The organization will apply the gift to its programs that serve "at risk" students.
Founded in 1983, Impact on Education is a private, non-profit community partnership for Boulder Valley Public Schools. The organization solicits crucially needed resources from businesses, individuals and foundations for classroom projects, in support of technology, to prevent dropout and to help level the playing field for disadvantaged students. In 24 years, Impact on Education has raised and invested $4 million, benefiting over 305,000 students and 2,500 teachers. To learn more, visit
