TWO $5,000 "GREEN GRANTS" AVAILABLE FOR COLORADO
ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
WHAT: Colorado Garden Show, Inc. and partner Bank of the West are excited to announce two $5,000 "Green" elementary school grants that will be given out at the Colorado Garden & Home Show in February 2008.
Would you like to win a $5,000 "Green" grant for your elementary school?
• Use the grant money however you want to make your school "Green"
• Create an environmentally friendly playground
• Grow a school garden for children to plant and learn
• Beautify school grounds with Xeriscape landscaping
• Renovate classrooms with "Green" building materials
• Start a recycling program at your school
• Install energy efficient appliances and water heaters
HOW: It's simple! Here's how to enter to win the "Green" grant:
1) Complete the "Green" School Drawing Activity (to download, visit www.GardeningColorado.com).
2) Mail in the completed drawings and "Wishing Well coins" - one per child - to Colorado Garden Show, 959 S. Kipling Parkway, Ste. 100, Lakewood, Colorado 80226. Entries must be received by Wed., February 20, 2008.
OR
Hand-deliver them to the Colorado Garden & Home Show at the Denver Convention Center from February 16-20, 2008 in downtown Denver at 700 14th Street, Denver, Colorado 80202.
TIMING: Entries must be received by Wednesday, February 20, 2008.
WHAT ELSE: Many people don't know that Colorado Garden Show is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides scholarships and grants from proceeds generated from the annual Colorado Garden & Home Show to support Colorado's horticulture industry. Since the program launched, Colorado Garden Show has awarded more than $2.5 million to nonprofits throughout the state.
Colorado Garden Show will award a $5,000 green grant and Bank of the West in their partnership with the Colorado Garden & Home Show is providing a matching grant of $5,000 for the second green grant.
