Bright future plans for Boulder TEC students
Contributed by: Marcia Burns on 5/24/2007

Bright future plans, dreams and a lot of hard work is ahead for graduates from Boulder Valley School District high schools and those who have received Boulder TEC certificates from their chosen Career and Technical Education program. A brief view on some of these students' future plans is as follows:

Mikaila Riehm was in the Engineering and Graphics Technology program at TEC. She will be graduating from Boulder High. She excels in math and art. She has combined her expertise in these two areas and believes the field of architectures is the perfect mix of these two subjects. Her goal is to become a registered architect. She plans on getting an Associates degree in Architectural Drafting, at Front Range Community College, in order to work to help pay for further college education. Mikaila's goals involve obtaining a Master's Degree and completing three-year internship before she'll be able to take the state exam to become a registered architect.

Russ Oram was in the Automotive Technology program and received a two-year Automotive Technology certificate. He will graduate from Arapahoe Ridge High School June 2. Russ has had a fascination with auto mechanics since he was a young child - thoroughly enjoying all the detail that goes into automotive repair and performance. He has been accepted to San Juan College and is being sponsored by Toyota of Longmont. He'll attend classes beginning in August; and, then after a couple of months of training, he'll come back to work at the dealership in Longmont. This affords him the opportunity of continued classroom training and direct work experience. His plan is to receive a strong educational background and on-the-job training to achieve his overall goal of having a very successful career with Toyota Corporation.

Alexa Phillips-Crone was in the Graphic Communications Program at TEC. She is a graduating senior from Boulder High School. Her goal is to receive a Master's Degree in art. To begin the process she has been accepted at the University of Northern Colorado. He chosen major is Graphic Design. She hopes to use these skills either within the industry in a large corporation or she may even start her own business one day. Alexa has had artistic abilities for as long as she can remember. Graphic design affords her the opportunity to incorporate these abilities into her life's work.

Boulder Valley School District's Technical Education Center's F.B.L.A. (Future Business Leaders of Americas) would like to congratulate Graham Miskella, Jordan Mertes, and Jeff Emerick for their outstanding performance in the Network Design Team competition at the Colorado State F.B.L.A. Conference held in Vail, Colorado. These three young men learned their skill as Network designers in the CISCO course at Boulder TEC. They are now moving to the next stage of the 2006-2007 school years' F.B.L.A. completion where they will compete this June in Chicago, Illinois at the FBLA National Conference and Completion. This completion will determine who will be the best F.B.L.A. Network Design Team in the Nation. The Boulder TEC F.B.L.A. Team of Miskella, Mertes, and Emerick is completely focused and wish only to demonstrate the true level of their talent as well as the high level instruction that they have received over the last at Boulder TEC in the CISCO department. Again, Boulder TEC F.B.L.A. wishes the Team good luck and bring home a win.
