Toofy Film Fest 2006 announces dates for Festival
The Toofy Film Fest is an annual film festival created specifically to showcase independent movies, music, fine art, and fashion in Boulder, CO from September 28 - October 1. The festival weekend kicks off with a performance by Canada's own "Waiting for Roger" at Trilogy wine bar, 2713 13 th Street in Boulder. The following evening will be a party night consisting of an art exhibition, live music, and a fashion show. The weekend will feature two full days of film screenings at a local favorite for cinema and entertainment enthusiasts, the Boulder Theater, located at 2032 14th Street, just off the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder.
Team Toofy handpicks the finest and most intriguing films from an abundance of international entries including film submissions from all over the U.S., France, Italy, Sweden, Brazil, Israel, and the Sudan.
The Toofy Film Fest was originally created by Colorado natives, Jeff and Mark Siebert, to bring quality short films to local audiences. "There's a lot of content out there," Festival Director and Co-Founder Jeff Siebert says, "and Toofy screens hundreds of submissions to find unusual and interesting films that you can't see anywhere else." "We understand the struggle of being independent artists," adds Mark, "and want to help them get their work in front of those who deserve to see it: the film fans."
One of this year's standout submissions is "American Storage," directed by Andrew J. Cohen starring Steve Carell (The Office, The 40 Year Old Virgin), David Krumholtz (Numb3rs, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle) and Martin Starr (Freaks and Geeks). "American Storage" tells the tale of a young Storage Facility attendant (Martin Starr) that finds a lodger (David Krumholtz) in one of the units while the boss (Steve Carell) is out of town.
"American Storage" was pitched by director Andrew J. Cohen and has been acquired to be adapted into a full-length feature by Paramount Pictures specialty division. The screenplay is being written by Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O'Brien, and Cohen is slated to direct.
"American Storage" can be seen with other international short films at the Toofy Film Fest 2006 Short Films Showcase on Saturday, September 30 th at 7pm at the Boulder Theater, located at 2032 14th Street, just off the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder.
