Mayan civilization explored in Macky travel ffilm

Explore Belize and Guatemala and the ancient Mayan civilization in the Macky Travel Film Series presentation of "Worlds of the Maya" on Sunday, April 22 at 3:00 p.m. in historic Macky Auditorium Concert Hall on the CU-Boulder campus.Film producer Sandy Mortimer will appear in person to present her film.The series is co-sponsored by the Daily Camera.

Before most Western Europeans knew about the North American continent, the ancient Maya civilization occupied the eastern third of Mesoamerica.Similar to the Greeks, they were religiously and artistically a nation, but politically sovereign states.Their wealth of scientific and artistic accomplishments continue to amaze modern scientists.Join Sandy Mortimer as she explores Belize and Guatemala, two countries that hold the stories and sites of the Classical Maya past.They are also home to much of the Maya culture of today.Journey to ancient cities, temples and caves not seen by outsiders, as well as to today's isolated villages, with their age-old rituals and ceremonies.
