Contributed by: Priscilla Slocum Lacy on 4/4/2008

You will "Hear the People Sing" one last time on the stage at the Louisville Middle School (LMS) as one of the most performed musicals worldwide, Les Miserables, comes alive for a new generation in a specially adapted School Edition.

Boulder County's own, CenterStage Theatre Company will open Les Misérables School Edition Friday evening,April 18th for ten performances in Louisville. *This will be the last production in the historic LMS-auditorium before the local school district begins improvements in June. CenterStage has a solid history with the auditorium performing its first show there in 1999.

Based on the 1862 novel by Victor Hugo, this epic story recounts the struggle against adversity in 19 th century France. Imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread, petty thief Jean Valjean is released from his 19-year term and not only becomes an honest man, but the mayor of a prosperous town and a loving adoptive father - violating his parole in the process. The relentless Inspector Javert, who make a decent life for Valjean impossible, consequently pursue him. Only years later, after Valjean proves his mettle during a bloody student uprising and saves the life of a young man in love with Valjean's daughter, Cosette, does the ex-convict finally feel fully redeemed. Within this story lies the universal truth "To love another person is to see the face of God".

So come join our two casts (47 each) of talented young actors ranging in age from 10-18 years old. The Tony award-winning score includes the songs "Do You Hear the People Sing?", "Master of House" and "On My Own" .
