At a recent Burns Supper, held at the Scotch Corner Pub, customers collected donations for Colorado Greyhound Adoption (CGA), a non-profit volunteer-run organization whose mission is to place retired racing greyhounds into loving homes as family pets.
Maggie Pitkethy of the Scotch Corner Pub recently lost her own greyhound, "Poppy", who moved with her family to Boulder from St. Andrews, Scotland."Greyhounds are the most wonderful dogs," said Maggie. "They are so very loving and gentle.I feel sure that I will adopt another one sometime soon.
" In the meantime, Maggie is helping in any way she can to raise awareness to the fact that so many greyhounds are looking for their "forever homes".
Greyhounds were once considered royal dogs.Their grace and beauty was something that royalty thought too precious to be shared with common people. How things have changed!
Maggie and her friends at the Scotch Corner Pub raised $300.00 for CGA, and are looking forward to more opportunities to raise awareness. The pub, which serves fish and chips, steak pies, and haggis plus a number of vegetarian items
, also features a variety of Scottish beers and over 30 kinds of whiskey in a warm setting. So stop in and raise a pint to Maggie and the hounds!
