Family's in town. Schools are closed. What to do with the kids? NOAA's got the answer! Come celebrate the 10th anniversary of the
David Skaggs
Research Center Tuesday, November 25.
Bring Your Family to NOAA will feature demonstrations and exhibits covering NOAA's quest to understand our environment-from the surface of the sun to the bottom of the world in Antarctica, from remote corners of the planet where air samples are taken to our own lab here in Boulder where they're analyzed, from the climates of yesteryear captured in tree rings to a hotter climate of the future captured in computer models.
--Live weather balloon launch by National Weather Service forecaster on the west side of the center at 1:00 p.m.
--Shows of NOAA's spectacular "Science On a Sphere" at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 12:00 noon, and 2:00 p.m.
--Hourly briefings at the one-of-a-kind Space Weather Prediction Center, a critical warming center for the nation.
--On-going exhibits, including a very-very-very tall water barometer in the 3-story atrium.
--Talks throughout the day on weather awareness and safety, the changeability of
Colorado weather, and a sneak preview of Colorado's upcoming winter weather.

Dedicated on November 20, 1998, NOAA's largest on south Broadway was named after former 2nd Congressional District Congressman David Skaggs. Skaggs served the district from 1987 to 1999 and played an important role in consolidating NOAA sites in Boulder into the agency's largest research laboratory.
