That Irritable IBS
Contributed by: Louisville Chiropractic Clinic on 2/6/2007

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) affects some 36 million people in the United States. It has puzzled medical professionals and researchers who have posed several theories about its origin.

After eating, IBS sufferers usually experience a combination of bloating, gas, abdominal pain, and constipation or diarrhea. These problems trigger an immune response, commonly resulting in flu-like symptoms--headaches, joint pain, muscle aches, and fatigue.

Many different approaches have been taken in treating IBS, from antibiotics to counseling. Most medical approaches to IBS have proven to have limited success, simply because drugs do not work in treating IBS. Research shows that IBS is correlated to a number of factors, most notably stress, intestinal bacteria, intestinal function, and dietary habits.

A Proven Approach to IBS

IBS can be treated, with nearly a 100% success rate by a practitioner who understands this condition well. IBS is best treated through a multifactoral approach that includes specific dietary modifications, supplements, stress reduction techniques, and intestinal manipulation techniques.

Zelnorm and Lotronex, drugs approved to treat IBS, should be avoided at all costs. IBS is a condition that is 100% treatable by a conservative, healthy approach. Zelnorm and Lotronex have serious side effects, and many feel that they should be altogether avoided, even banned. Dr. Joseph Mercola, a prominent medical doctor states, "this is such a sad tragedy that one would have to resort to drugs to address such a simply treated problem".

Dr. Garret Rock, of Louisville Chiropractic Clinic, has extensive experience in treating IBS, and currently has a 99% success rate in treating this condition. His approach to treating IBS takes on every aspect underlying this condition, and includes:
- addressing the issue of stress through stress reduction techniques, such as Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), meditation, or lifestyle modification,
-normalizing the intestinal flora (bacteria) through supplementation,
-eliminating intestinal inflammation through dietary modifications and supplementing natural, intestinal friendly anti-inflammatories,
-facilitating proper intestinal functioning through manual techniques.
