Winter fun -- the rink at One Boulder Plaza

Don’t miss winter fun on the ice in Downtown Boulder! The Ice Rink at One Boulder Plaza is open to the public for the 2005-2006 ice skating season  and is expected to remain open through Feb. 20, 2006.

The Ice Rink at One Boulder Plaza is located in the heart of downtown Boulder , just one block off the historic Pearl Street Mall and is surrounded by cafes, restaurants and shopping.  Visitors can enjoy outdoor ice skating and winter cheer with family and friends seven days a week.  Admission costs just $5 for adults and $4 for children ages 4 to12.  Children three and under are free, and seniors 60 years and over skate for just $3.  Skates can be rented for $3.  Groups of 10 or more are welcome anytime and will receive a discounted rate of $4 per child or adult which includes skate rental.  Private rink rental for larger parties is also available.

"We are thrilled to bring ice skating to the community again this year in Downtown Boulder,” Ice Rink Manager Ashley Ortiz said. “We look forward to some wonderful family activities at One Boulder Plaza this winter.”

The 2005-2006 skating season includes many new programs including free skating nights, monthly theme skates and a “Tuesday Special” discounted skating from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. Families can enjoy free skating and skate rentals from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005 , Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005 , Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006 and Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006 .  Starlight Skates, offering free skate rental with general admission, take place from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Thursdays beginning Dec. 1, 2005 .

Theme Skates, which offer two for one admission, games and prizes for the best costumes take place once a month on Fridays.  A Disco Party theme skate takes place from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. on opening night, Friday, Nov. 18, 2005 . Other theme skates include a Beach Party on Friday, Dec. 23, 2005 , Skating Gone Country on Friday, Jan. 20, 2006 and Hippies on Ice, Friday, Feb. 17, 2006 . The Ice Rink at One Boulder Plaza offers Techno Parties with two for one admission from    7 p.m. - 9 p.m. each Saturday of the season excluding Dec. 24, 2005 and Dec. 31, 2005.

Families with children can now host birthday parties at The Ice Rink at One Boulder Plaza thanks to Downtown Boulder, Inc.  Parties for 10 or more children cost $15 per person which includes admission, skate rental, Downtown Boulder’s private birthday party tent for an hour and a half, pizza, paper products, juice, and decorations.  Skating only parties are also available for birthday parties of all sizes, at a cost of $4 per skater which includes skate rental. Located just a block off the Pearl Street Mall on 13th between Walnut and Canyon, The Ice Rink at One Boulder Plaza also offers birthday party and group rates, private party rentals and ice skating lessons. It is open seven days a week. Skating rink hours are Sunday and Monday from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. , Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday - Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Holiday hours may vary.
