Dennis Neal, a 50-year-old local real estate agent, was arrested Oct. 9.
Dennis Neal's real estate group has been under contract to sell a home in unincorporated Boulder County since April of 2006. Between May 9 and Oct. 4, Neal allegedly used the key located in the real estate key box to illegally enter the home on at least six separate occasions to steal prescription painkillers belonging to the homeowners.
A hidden camera was set up in the home and provided evidence of the crimes. Faced with the evidence, Neal admitted to the burglaries and thefts, saying that he has taken drugs from several other properties sold by his real estate group.
Boulder County Sheriff's Detectives obtained a warrant for Dennis Neal's arrest on Oct. 6. Neal turned himself into detectives later that day and was booked into the Boulder County Jail.
Neal was lodged on six counts of second-degree burglary, class 3 felonies, two counts of possession of schedule II controlled substance, class 4 felonies, and five counts of misdemeanor theft.
Additional investigation is being conducted by Detective
Ali Thompson to identify other persons who may have been victimized. She can be contacted at 303-441-3543.
