Boulder County will receive a total of $137,173.00 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the two counties.
A Local Board will determine how the funds awarded to Boulder County are to be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service agencies in the area. The Local Board is responsible for recommending agencies to receive these funds and any additional funds available under this phase of the program. The Local Board is chaired by Foothills United Way and includes representatives of local government, local faith communities, the American Red Cross, the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless and Community Food Share.
APPLICATIONS FOR FUNDING NOW BEING ACCEPTED
Under the terms of the grant, local agencies chosen to receive funds must: 1) be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, 2) have an accounting system, 3) practice nondiscrimination, 4) have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, and 5) have a voluntary board.
The Local Board will consider the awarding of funds to local organizations for the following purposes:
--Food, in the form of served meals or groceries
--Lodging in a mass shelter or hotel
--One month's rent or mortgage payment
--One month's utility bill
