The Boulder Parks and Recreation Foundation (BPRF) is pleased to announce that they have awarded the South Boulder Little League (SBLL) a $3,000 grant in support of their program with the City of Boulder to involve low income youth in little league baseball.

This past summer, the SBLL and the City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department launched a focused effort to encourage low-income youth living in reduced rate housing, to participate in a summer baseball league as part of a larger effort increase involvement in youth sport programs. 14 youth participated in the summer baseball program, none of whom had ever played baseball before. The entire little league rallied to ensure that everyone had a great experience. Funds from BPRF assisted in equipment costs, transportation and support.

The program was a huge success. One participant made it to the All-Stars team! All of the youth showed great enthusiasm and joy and their families created a great cheering section from the bleachers. The Boulder Parks and Recreation Foundation is thrilled to have been a part of such a great program. Everyone involved looks forward to growing the program for next year.

The Boulder Parks and Recreation Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports and advocates for parks and recreation programs and services in the Boulder area.
