Positive reinforcement training hits the road

Humane Society of Boulder Valley partners with Toyota

Boulder, Colo., March 18, 2009 -The Humane Society of Boulder Valley is proud to partner with Toyota as they launch the Venza, a new canine-friendly vehicle sure to make tails wag from coast to coast.

The Venza is geared toward people with active lifestyles which often involve pets, and offers a full line-up of canine-friendly safety and comfort products through Toyota dealers. The Toyota Venza Dog Experience is making its way to Denver and will visit the Chatfield State Dog Park from March 21- March 22, and the Barnum Dog Park from March 28-March 29 where Humane Society trainers will conduct pet safety training seminars every hour on the hour. You can also take your dog for a spin in the Venza and create a video screensaver of your pup!

The Humane Society is extremely honored that Toyota asked Director of Training and Behavior Lindsay Wood, MA, CTC, to develop a curriculum on automobile pet safety. Wood recently visited the Toyota "road team," to teach them about animal behavior and train the Toyota team in automobile pet safety.

"We are thrilled that Toyota recognizes its customers' pets are precious cargo just like any member of the family." Wood said. "The benefits of this project are two-fold for us. We are using positive reinforcement training in teaching dogs to enjoy car rides, and raising awareness for automobile pet safety."
