ROCKTOBERFEST!
Contributed by: Tamara Duran on 8/28/2008

Why I heart the rockies, let me count the ways. First of all I am not a native of colorado. I originate from the neighboring state of New Mexico the land of Enchantment. We did not have a Major League team so I am not betraying my loyalty to the home team. You see the Rockies are my home team now since moving here the summer of 2006. Granted I did not follow them too much before I made the move the the mile high city, but ever since I made to the 2007 season opener I am hooked! I remember the day vividly. It was a pleasant April afternoon not a cloud in the sky, just a cool spring breeze. It was a short walk and free mall ride to field, as I was residing in the historic Capitol Hill area at the time. It was great there were thousands of fans taking in this exciting event. I thankfully did not have to bother with parking. I enjoyed the game, the hot dog and people watching, I honestly can't say who won that game but I have a feeling it was our boys. I got to go to a few more games that year including the fourth of July event and when the yankees came in town, who I used to like. By the time September rolled around I was a complete Rockies addict. The mere fact that this relatively young team came together and made it all the way to the WORLD SERIES last year gives me the chills and makes me feel special and proud that is was here to witness and fell the energy of the Epic event! I know it will be something I will never forget. It is now 2008 and I do not reside in Capitol Hill any more, and maybe the Rockies are not putting up the numbers of the year before it is alright with me. I am not a fair weathered fan. I still make it down to as many games as I can to watch these awesome athletes do what they know how. The summer is coming to a halt and my brother and nephew have been talking about coming to a Rockies game but have not found the time I suppose. My big bro is an Astros fan for as long as I can remember, and my cute little nephew loves the Rockies now too! It would be an honor to really give them a reason to make the trek up north and cheer on my new home team! My brother might be wearing his Asros hat, but you can bet I will be wearing my Tulo jersey and my cute little nephew will be sporting black and purple cheering when his man Holliday is up to bat. Rocktober baby!!!!
