It was the standard first day, which included academic and compliance orientation, physicals, equipment sizing, photos and a team dinner, with the first position meetings in the evening.

Practices begin Tuesday, with the same schedule daily: newcomers and select veterans with summer school in the afternoon will participate in morning sessions (9:45-11:45), while the remainder of the veterans will go in the afternoon (4:30-6:30). The first combined practice this Saturday will also be the first one in pads (4:00-6:30). The first scrimmage is set for next Monday (August 11).

In addition to the 17 freshman recruits from last spring's recruiting class (not including two who enrolled at CU in January), three true freshmen joined the team as invited walk-ons Monday: Peter Bobseine (a wide receiver from Duxbury, Mass.); Guy Sergent (a linebacker from Fountain-Fort Carson High School in Fountain) and Cameron Wright (a quarterback from Ralston Valley High School in Arvada).

One player who did not join his teammates Monday was guard Erick Faatagi, as coaches received word that he has been determined to be academically ineligible for the fall semester. A fifth-year senior, his CU career is officially over, thus the coaches decided to bring another player into camp who originally was not going to report until the first day of school.
