Friday,
March 13, 2009 at the
Coors Event Center on the CU Campus, the
Regis Jesuit girls basketball team became the
State 5A Champions.
There was no doubt from the start whom the likely winner was going to be, barring any act of fate that so often happens in tournament play.
Regis led the whole game through, no I'm not saying Monarch didn't show up to play, they were just out gunned.
Monarch played a very good game it was just the fact that
Regis was just that much better in the way of talent in numbers.
The leading scorer of the game was
Mary Bokenkamp of
Regis with 18pts, followed by
Alex Evans of
Monarch with 13pts.
In third was
Alexus Johnson with 11pts of
Monarch, and then there was
Mariah Williams scoring 7pts for
Regis and in my opinion played with the biggest heart and coming from one of the smallest frames on the court that night.
Regis was the home team and
Monarch was the visiting team. This is a game that truly represents a Championship game they
both teams gave 100% both in play and sportsmanship and the crowd enjoyed every minute of it.Regis Jesuit had a sweep in 5A Basketball both the Girls and Boys are the kings and queens of
5A State Champions in basketball.
